What happened

Landlords applied for an order to terminate the tenancy and evict the Tenant because the Tenant has abandoned the rental unit. The Landlords took over management of the property on February 16, 2021, and the Tenant had not paid any rent since October 2020. The Landlords made several attempts to ascertain if the Tenant was still in possession of the rental unit, and found no indication that the Tenant was present.

The ruling

The Tenant has abandoned the rental unit and the tenancy is terminated. The Tenant shall pay the Landlords $186.00 for the cost of filing the application. If the Tenant does not pay the full amount owing by October 23, 2021, the Tenant will start to owe interest at 2.00% annually on the outstanding balance.
