What happened
Landlord applied for an order to terminate the tenancy and evict Tenant due to Tenant, another occupant, or someone Tenant permitted seriously impairing the safety of any person, wilfully causing undue damage to the premises, and substantially interfering with the reasonable enjoyment or lawful right, privilege or interest of the Landlord in a residential complex that has three or fewer residential units. Landlord also applied for an order requiring Tenant to compensate for the damage.
The ruling
The Tenant shall pay the Landlord $20,000 for the reasonable costs of repairing the damage and replacing the damaged property, as well as $186 for the cost of filing the application. If the Tenant does not pay the full amount by February 6, 2022, the Tenant will start owing simple interest at 2% annually on the outstanding balance.
