What happened

Landlord applied for an order requiring Tenant to pay the rent owed. Tenant vacated the rental unit on May 31, 2022, after being requested to leave due to non-payment of rent. Tenant did not pay the total rent required for the period from November 1, 2021 to May 31, 2022.

The ruling

The Tenant is ordered to pay the Landlord $12,191.07, which includes rent arrears up to May 31, 2022, and the cost of the application, minus the deposit and interest owing on that deposit. If the Tenant does not pay the full amount by November 25, 2022, interest will start accruing at 4.00% annually on the outstanding balance from November 26, 2022.
