What happened

Landlord applied for an order requiring Tenant to pay the rent that the Tenant owes. The Tenant was in possession of the rental unit on the date the application was filed but did not pay the total rent the Tenant was required to pay for the period from July 1, 2021 to September 30, 2021. Additional rent has come due for the month of October 2021. The Tenant made no payments since the application was filed and vacated the rental unit on October 31, 2021.

The ruling

The Tenant shall pay the Landlord $6,800.00, which represents the amount of rent owing up to October 31, 2021, and $201.00 for the cost of filing the application. If the Tenant does not pay the full amount owing on or before February 25, 2022, the Tenant will start to owe simple interest calculated at 2.00% annually on the balance outstanding.
