What happened

Landlords applied for an order requiring Tenants to pay the rent they owed. The Tenants had vacated the rental unit on February 4, 2020, after giving the Landlords a notice of termination on December 10, 2020 by email. The Landlords were unable to immediately re-rent the unit due to the Tenants leaving personal property and debris behind.

The ruling

The Tenants are ordered to pay the Landlords $3,308.50 in rent arrears up to February 29, 2020, and $190 for the application filing fee. If the full amount is not paid by September 19, 2020, the Tenants will owe interest at 3% annually on the outstanding balance.
