What happened
Landlord applied for an order to terminate the tenancy and evict Tenant due to non-payment of rent. Tenant had not paid rent from December 1, 2019 to December 31, 2021. Landlord served a Notice of Termination effective September 30, 2021. Tenant did not attend the hearing.
The ruling
The tenancy is terminated, and the Tenant must vacate the unit by January 18, 2022. The Tenant is ordered to pay $16,601.77 plus $31.23 per day starting January 8, 2022, for rent arrears, compensation, and application costs. If the Tenant pays $17,310.00 by January 18, 2022, the eviction order will be void. Interest will be charged on any outstanding balance from January 19, 2022, at 2.00% annually.
