What happened

Landlord applied for an order requiring Tenant to pay for the reasonable costs of repairing or replacing damaged property in the rental unit, as the Tenant painted the walls and kitchen cupboards without the Landlord's permission.

The ruling

The Tenant shall pay the Landlord $850.01 for the reasonable cost of replacing the damaged kitchen cupboard doors, and $170.00 for the cost of filing the application. If the Tenant does not pay the full amount by January 3, 2017, he will start to owe simple interest at 2% annually on the outstanding balance.
