What happened
Landlord applied for an order to terminate the tenancy and evict Tenants due to non-payment of rent. Tenants claimed they should be entitled to a 50% rent reduction for the first six months due to inadequate internet service, which they argued was promised by the Landlord to be 'great'.
The ruling
The tenancy was terminated effective March 31, 2021. Tenants are ordered to pay $18,307.75 to the Landlord, which includes rent arrears, compensation up to the termination date, and the application filing fee. Interest will be charged on any outstanding balance after January 31, 2022.
