What happened
Tenant filed an application alleging that the Landlords failed to pay the compensation due when they served an N12 notice of termination on the Tenant. The Landlords served the N12 notice on the Tenant for their daughter to move in, and the Tenant vacated the rental unit as a result. It was uncontested that the Landlords had not paid the Tenant the required one month's rent compensation.
The ruling
The Landlords are ordered to pay the Tenant $1,783.00, which includes $1,730.00 in compensation for moving out and $53.00 for the cost of filing the application. If the Landlords do not pay the full amount by January 16, 2022, they will owe interest on the outstanding balance.
