What happened

Tenants applied for an order determining that the Landlord harassed, obstructed, coerced, threatened or interfered with them and substantially interfered with their reasonable enjoyment of the rental unit or residential complex by prohibiting the consumption of alcohol in the common areas.

The ruling

The Tenants' application was dismissed. The Landlord's prohibition on alcohol consumption in the common areas was reasonable as those areas were not designated for eating and drinking, which was the usual purpose considered in a previous case. The Tenants did not have a contractual right to consume alcohol in those common areas.
