What happened

Tenant applied for an order determining that Landlord failed to meet maintenance obligations under the Residential Tenancies Act, 2006 or failed to comply with health, safety, housing or maintenance standards.

The ruling

The Landlord breached subsection 20(1) of the Act by failing to maintain the rental unit with respect to the maintenance issue regarding the freezer unit. The Tenant is entitled to a rent abatement of $202.50 and reimbursement of $53.00 for filing fees.
