What happened
Landlords applied for an order to terminate the tenancy and evict Tenants due to non-payment of rent and substantial interference. The Tenants vacated the rental unit on July 31, 2020, prior to the hearing date.
The ruling
The tenancy was terminated effective July 31, 2020, the date the Tenants vacated the rental unit. The Tenants are ordered to pay $1,944.27 to the Landlords, which includes rent arrears up to the move-out date and the cost of filing the application, less the rent deposit and interest on the deposit. If the Tenants do not pay the full amount by April 4, 2021, they will owe interest at 2% annually on the outstanding balance.
