What happened
Landlord applied for an order to terminate the tenancy and evict Tenants due to failure to pay rent and because the landlord has entered into an agreement of purchase and sale of the rental unit and the purchaser requires possession of the rental unit for the purpose of residential occupation.
The ruling
The tenancy is terminated effective October 1, 2021. The Tenants must pay the Landlord $13,800 in rent arrears, $201 in filing costs, and $75.62 per day in compensation starting October 2, 2021 until they vacate the unit. If the Tenants do not pay the full amount owed by January 16, 2022, they will owe interest at 2% annually on the outstanding balance.
