What happened

Tenant applied for an order determining that the Landlord failed to meet the Landlords' maintenance obligations under the Residential Tenancies Act, 2006 or failed to comply with health, safety, housing or maintenance standards. The dispute relates to a water leakage issue in the Tenant's rental unit.

The ruling

The Landlord failed to meet their maintenance obligations under the Residential Tenancies Act, 2006. The Landlord is ordered to pay the Tenant $50 for the application fee and complete the repairs ordered by the City of Toronto by September 15, 2020. If the repairs are not completed, the Tenant is authorized to arrange for the work and deduct the costs from the rent.
