What happened
Landlord applied for an order requiring Former Tenants to pay the Landlord's reasonable out-of-pocket costs that are the result of the Former Tenants' failure to pay utility costs they were required to pay under the terms of the tenancy agreement, and to pay the Landlord's reasonable out-of-pocket costs that the Landlord has incurred or will incur to repair or replace undue damage to the property caused wilfully or negligently by the Former Tenants.
The ruling
The Former Tenants are ordered to pay the Landlord $5,019.07 by April 3, 2023, which includes $685.44 for unpaid utility costs, $4,132.63 for damages to the rental unit, and $201.00 for the application filing costs. If the Former Tenants do not pay the full amount by the due date, they will start owing interest at 5% annually on the outstanding balance.
