What happened

Landlords applied to terminate the tenancy and evict the Tenant due to non-payment of rent and substantial interference with the reasonable enjoyment or lawful right, privilege or interest of the Landlords or another tenant.

The ruling

The tenancy is terminated as of May 1, 2021, the date the Tenant vacated the rental unit. The Tenant shall pay the Landlords $35,000.00, which represents the amount of rent owing and compensation up to May 1, 2021, limited to the Board's jurisdictional maximum. The Tenant shall also pay the Landlords $201.00 for the cost of filing the application. If the Tenant does not pay the full amount owing by July 17, 2021, the Tenant will start to owe simple interest at 2.00% annually on the balance outstanding.
