What happened
Landlord applied for an order requiring Tenant to pay the rent that the Tenant owes. The Tenant did not pay the total rent the Tenant was required to pay for the period from November 1, 2019 to June 30, 2020. The Tenant vacated the rental unit on June 30, 2020.
The ruling
The tenancy is terminated as of June 30, 2020, the date the Tenant vacated the rental unit. The Tenant shall pay the Landlord $14,696.55, which represents the rent owing up to June 30, 2020 less the rent deposit and interest owed on the deposit. The Tenant shall also pay the Landlord $190.00 for the cost of filing the application. If the Tenant does not pay the full amount by January 17, 2021, the Tenant will start to owe interest at 3.00% annually on the outstanding balance.
