What happened
Landlord applied for an order to terminate the tenancy and evict Tenant due to failure to pay rent. The Tenant had not paid rent from June 1, 2020 to December 31, 2020, and the Landlord served a valid Notice of Termination. The Tenant was in possession of the rental unit at the time of the application.
The ruling
The tenancy is terminated effective February 9, 2021. The Tenant must pay the Landlord $6,626.71, which includes rent arrears up to January 29, 2021 and the application filing fee, less the rent deposit and interest. The Tenant must also pay $31.89 per day in compensation starting January 30, 2021 until the Tenant vacates the unit. If the Tenant does not pay the full amount by February 9, 2021, the Landlord may file the order with the Sheriff for enforcement.
