What happened
Landlord applied for an order to terminate the tenancy and evict Tenant due to non-payment of rent and because the Landlord requires possession of the rental unit for the purpose of residential occupation by the Landlord's daughter.
The ruling
The tenancy is terminated effective February 28, 2022. The Tenant must vacate the unit by that date. The Tenant is not required to pay rent for January 2022 as compensation. The Tenant's last month's rent deposit will be applied to the February 2022 rent. The Tenant must pay the Landlord $6,300 in rent arrears and $201 in application filing costs by February 28, 2022. If the Tenant does not pay the full amount owing by the due date, the Tenant will owe interest starting March 1, 2022.
