What happened

Landlord applied for an order to terminate the tenancy and evict Tenant due to non-payment of rent and persistent late payment of rent. The Landlord served a valid Notice of Termination, and the Tenant was in possession of the rental unit at the time of the hearing. The Tenant did not attend the hearing.

The ruling

The tenancy is terminated effective January 23, 2022. The Tenant must pay the Landlord $7,745.74, which includes rent arrears, compensation, and the application fee, less the rent deposit and interest owed on the deposit. The Tenant must also pay $77.26 per day in compensation for each day of occupation starting January 13, 2022 until the Tenant vacates the unit.
