What happened
Landlord applied for an order to terminate the tenancy and evict Tenant due to persistent late payment of rent. The Landlord also claimed compensation for each day the Tenant remained in the unit after the termination date. The Tenant did not attend the hearing.
The ruling
The tenancy is terminated effective October 16, 2022. The Tenant is ordered to pay $6,144.06 to the Landlord, which includes compensation for use of the unit, application filing costs, less the rent deposit and interest on the deposit. The Tenant must also pay $41.88 per day from September 22, 2022 until they vacate the unit. If the Tenant does not move out by October 16, 2022, the Landlord can file the order with the Sheriff for eviction.
