What happened

Landlord applied for an order requiring the Tenant to pay the rent that the Tenant owes. The Tenant sadly passed away on October 28, 2020, and the application was amended to reflect the more accurate name of the Tenant.

The ruling

The tenancy is terminated as of November 27, 2020. The Tenant shall pay the Landlord $17,950.39, which represents the amount of rent owing up to November 27, 2020, less the rent deposit and interest the Landlord owes on the rent deposit. The Tenant shall also pay the Landlord $201.00 for the cost of filing the application. If the Tenant does not pay the full amount owing by December 4, 2021, the Tenant will start to owe interest at 2.00% annually on the balance outstanding.
