What happened

Tenant applied for an order determining that the Landlord has collected or retained money illegally. The issue to be determined is whether the Landlord failed to pay interest on the last month's rent deposit.

The ruling

The Landlord is ordered to pay the Tenant $100.70 for interest on the last month's rent deposit from September 1, 2015 to 2020, and $50.00 for the cost of filing the application, for a total of $150.70. If the Landlord does not pay the full amount by October 17, 2020, the Landlord will owe simple interest at 2.00% annually on the outstanding balance.
