What happened
Tenants applied for an order determining that the Landlord failed to meet the Landlord's maintenance obligations under the Residential Tenancies Act, 2006 or failed to comply with health, safety, housing or maintenance standards. The issues included a clogged bathtub/shower drain, a malfunctioning toilet, issues with the washing machine, and problems with the oven/stove.
The ruling
The Landlord failed to meet the Landlord's maintenance obligations under the Act. The Landlord was ordered to pay the Tenants a rent abatement of $16.85, reimburse the Tenants $867.00 for their out-of-pocket expenses, and pay the $45.00 cost of filing the application, for a total of $928.85.
