What happened

Landlord applied for an order to terminate the tenancy and evict Tenant due to non-payment of rent. The Tenant did not attend the hearing. The Landlord served a Notice of Termination effective August 12, 2021, due to rent arrears from May 1, 2021, to December 31, 2021.

The ruling

The tenancy is terminated effective January 16, 2022, unless the Tenant voids the order by paying $5,046.00 by that date. The Tenant must pay $4,424.54 for rent arrears and compensation up to January 5, 2022, plus $17.75 per day from January 6, 2022, until move-out. The Tenant must also pay $186.00 for the application filing cost. If not paid by January 16, 2022, interest will accrue at 2.00% annually from January 17, 2022.
