What happened

Landlord applied to terminate the tenancy and evict the Tenants due to wilful damage to the rental unit and serious impairment of safety of others in the residential complex. The Tenants were not present at the hearing.

The ruling

The tenancy is terminated effective May 29, 2021. The Tenants must vacate the rental unit by that date. The Tenants are ordered to pay the Landlord $7,186, which includes $7,000 for the cost of repairing damage and $186 for the application fee. If the Tenants do not pay the full amount by May 29, 2021, they will owe interest at 2% annually on the outstanding balance starting May 30, 2021. The Landlord may file this order with the Court Enforcement Office (Sheriff) for enforcement if the Tenants do not vacate by May 29, 2021, and the Sheriff is requested to expedite the enforcement.
