What happened

Landlord applied for an order to terminate the tenancy and evict Tenant due to persistent late payment of rent. The Tenant was not present at the hearing.

The ruling

The Tenant shall pay their lawful monthly rent to the Landlord in full and on time on or before the 1st day each and every month for the twelve (12) consecutive months commencing June 2021 through to and including May 2022. If the Tenant fails to make any one of the payments, the Landlord may apply under section 78 of the Act for an order terminating the tenancy and evicting the Tenant. The Tenant shall also pay the Landlord $175.00 for the cost of the filing fee for this application. If the Tenant does not pay the Landlord the full amount owing on or before June 15, 2021, the Tenant will start to owe interest at 2.00% annually on the balance outstanding.
