What happened

The landlord applied for an order to terminate the tenancy and evict the tenant due to the tenant's failure to pay rent as ordered in a previous LTB order.

The ruling

The tenancy is terminated effective January 16, 2022. The tenant must pay the landlord $16,300.95, which includes rent arrears up to January 5, 2022 and the costs related to the previous application, less the rent deposit and interest owed on the deposit. The tenant must also pay $67.40 per day in compensation for use of the unit starting January 6, 2022 until the tenant vacates. If the tenant does not pay the full amount by January 16, 2022, the tenant will owe interest at 2% annually on the outstanding balance.
