What happened

Landlords applied to terminate the tenancy and evict Tenant due to non-payment of rent. Tenant vacated the unit on December 19, 2020 but owed rent arrears. Tenant raised various maintenance issues to offset the arrears.

The ruling

The Tenant shall pay the Landlords $20,652.07 in rent arrears, compensation, and NSF cheque charges, less the rent deposit and interest owed, and less a $427.15 abatement for maintenance issues. The Tenant shall also pay $186 in application filing fees.
