What happened

Tenants applied for an order determining that Landlords failed to meet their maintenance obligations under the Residential Tenancies Act, 2006, or failed to comply with health, safety, housing or maintenance standards. The issues were related to cockroach infestation, smoke alarm replacement, and leaking taps.

The ruling

The Landlords shall repair or replace the kitchen and bathroom taps by June 26, 2018. If the Landlords do not do the work by that date, the Tenants are authorized to arrange for the work to be done and deduct the cost from future rent payments.
