What happened
Landlord applied to terminate the tenancy and evict Tenant due to Tenant's involvement in a physical altercation with another tenant, resulting in the Tenant assaulting the other tenant with a golf club and causing serious injuries. The Landlord is also concerned for the safety of other residents in the complex.
The ruling
The tenancy is terminated effective September 28, 2020. The Tenant must vacate the rental unit by that date. The Tenant is ordered to pay the Landlord $2,268.72 in compensation for use of the unit, plus $32.88 per day from September 24, 2020 until the Tenant vacates. The Tenant must also pay the $186 application fee. If the Tenant does not pay the full amount by September 28, 2020, interest will start accruing at 2% annually on the outstanding balance.
