What happened
Landlords applied to terminate the tenancy and evict the Tenant due to non-payment of rent and persistent late payment of rent. The Tenant was in possession of the rental unit on the hearing date and had not paid rent since October 2019, owing $11,500 in arrears. The Landlords also claimed compensation for the Tenant's continued occupancy after the termination date.
The ruling
The tenancy is terminated effective August 23, 2020 unless the Tenant pays the full amount owing of $9,175.73 by that date. If the Tenant does not pay, the Landlords may file the order with the Sheriff for enforcement. The Tenant is also ordered to pay $75.62 per day in compensation for continued occupancy after March 31, 2020, and the $190 application fee. If the Tenant pays the full amount owing at any point before August 23, 2020, the order for eviction will be void.
