What happened
Landlord applied for an order requiring the Tenant to pay the rent that the Tenant owes. The Tenant was in possession of the rental unit on the date the application was filed. The Tenant did not pay the total rent the Tenant was required to pay for the period from February 1, 2020 to August 31, 2020. The Landlord testified that the Tenant was evicted from the rental unit on September 17, 2020 pursuant to an ex parte order issued on August 6, 2020 because the Tenant failed to meet a payment condition specified in a mediated settlement agreement.
The ruling
The Tenant shall pay to the Landlord $7,600.00, which represents the amount of rent owing up to August 31, 2020. The Tenant shall also pay to the Landlord $201.00 for the cost of filing the application. If the Tenant does not pay the Landlord the full amount owing on or before March 12, 2021, the Tenant will start to owe interest at 2.00% annually on the balance outstanding.
