What happened

Landlord applied for an order to terminate the tenancy and evict Tenants due to failure to meet a condition specified in the mediated settlement issued by the Board on March 9, 2020 with respect to a previous application. The Tenants did not pay $2,000 by the specified date in the settlement.

The ruling

The tenancy is terminated effective August 16, 2020. The Tenants must pay the Landlord $10,533.85, representing the rent arrears and costs, less the rent deposit and interest. The Tenants must also pay $28.95 per day in compensation for use of the unit from April 1, 2020 until they move out. If the full amount is not paid by August 16, 2020, the Tenants will owe interest at 2% annually on the outstanding balance.
