What happened

Landlord applied for an order to terminate the tenancy and evict Tenant due to Tenant causing undue damage to the rental unit. Landlord also applied for an order requiring Tenant to compensate Landlord for the damage.

The ruling

The tenancy was terminated effective January 15, 2021, the date the Tenant vacated the rental unit. The Tenant is ordered to pay the Landlord $500 for the cost of repairing or replacing the damaged property, $500 for compensation for use of the unit, and $186 for the cost of filing the application. If the Tenant does not pay the full amount by June 14, 2021, the Tenant will start owing interest at 2% annually on the outstanding balance.
