What happened

Landlord applied for an order to terminate the tenancy and evict Tenants because the Tenants entered into an agreement to terminate the tenancy, but did not move out by the agreed upon date. The Tenant testified that she could not find a new rental unit because the Landlord cut her WIFI, but the Landlord denied this. The Landlord also testified that the Tenant owed him close to $11,000, including unpaid water bills, and that he offered to forgive the debt if the Tenant would leave, but the Tenant remained in the unit.

The ruling

The tenancy was terminated effective March 1, 2021. The Tenant was ordered to pay the Landlord $201 for the cost of filing the application. If the Tenant did not pay the full amount owed by February 28, 2021, they would start to owe interest at 2% annually on the outstanding balance. If the unit was not vacated by March 1, 2021, the Landlord could file the order with the Court Enforcement Office (Sheriff) to enforce the eviction.
