What happened

Landlord applied for an order to terminate the tenancy and evict Tenant due to non-payment of rent. The Tenant had not paid the total rent required from January 1, 2020 to December 31, 2021. The Landlord served a Notice of Termination effective July 26, 2021.

The ruling

The tenancy is terminated effective January 31, 2022, unless the Tenant voids the order by paying $19,851.00 to the Landlord or the Board in trust by that date. The Tenant is ordered to pay $18,529.63 for rent arrears and compensation up to January 5, 2022, plus $46.85 per day starting January 6, 2022, and $201.00 for the application filing cost. If the unit is not vacated by January 31, 2022, the Landlord may file the order with the Sheriff for enforcement.
