What happened
Landlord applied for an order to terminate the tenancy and evict Tenants due to failure to pay rent and because the Landlord requires possession of the rental unit for the purpose of residential occupation. The Landlord also claimed compensation for each day the Tenants remained in the unit after the termination date.
The ruling
The tenancy terminated on August 13, 2021, the date the Tenants vacated the rental unit. The Tenants are ordered to pay $5,041.58 to the Landlord, which includes rent arrears up to the move-out date and the cost of filing the application. If the Tenants do not pay the full amount by February 7, 2022, they will start to owe interest at 2.00% annually on the outstanding balance.
