What happened
Tenant applied for an order determining that Landlord failed to meet maintenance obligations under the Residential Tenancies Act, 2006. The issues were related to leaks in the Tenant's bedroom ceiling, damage to the Tenant's mattress, and the Landlord's failure to respond in a timely manner.
The ruling
The Landlord shall pay the Tenant $1,000.00 for the cost of replacing the mattress damaged due to the Landlord's failure to respond to the upstairs leak in a timely manner. The Landlord shall also pay the Tenant $48.00 for the cost of filing the application. The total amount the Landlord owes the Tenant is $1,048.00, which must be paid by February 28, 2022. If the Landlord does not pay by the due date, the Tenant may recover the outstanding amount by deducting it from the rent each month.
