What happened
Landlord applied for an order to terminate the tenancy and evict Tenant due to non-payment of rent. The Tenant failed to pay rent from September 1, 2021 to January 31, 2022. The Landlord served a Notice of Termination effective October 21, 2021. The Tenant did not attend the hearing.
The ruling
The tenancy is terminated effective January 31, 2022, unless the Tenant voids the order by paying $5,125.85 on or before that date. The Tenant must pay the Landlord $3,607.24 for rent arrears and compensation up to January 20, 2022, plus $32.48 per day from January 21, 2022 until move-out. The Tenant must also pay $186.00 for the application filing fee. If the Tenant does not pay and vacate by January 31, 2022, the Landlord may file for eviction enforcement starting February 1, 2022.
