What happened

Landlord applied for an order requiring Tenant to pay the rent that the Tenant owes. The Tenant vacated the rental unit on July 2, 2021, and the Landlord is only seeking the rent owing up to July 1, 2021.

The ruling

The Tenant shall pay the Landlord $4,296.30, which represents the rent owing up to March 1, 2021, minus the last month's rent deposit and interest. The Tenant shall also pay the Landlord $201.00 for the cost of filing the application. The total amount the Tenant owes the Landlord is $4,497.30. If the Tenant does not pay the full amount by March 26, 2022, the Tenant will start to owe interest at 2.00% annually on the outstanding balance.
