What happened

Tenant applied for an order determining that Landlords failed to meet their maintenance obligations under the Residential Tenancies Act, 2006 or failed to comply with health, safety, housing or maintenance standards. The key issue was the Tenant's complaint of mold and humidity in the bathroom, which the Landlords allegedly failed to properly address.

The ruling

The Landlords shall pay the Tenant a rent abatement of $489.38 and $50.00 for the cost of filing the application, for a total of $539.38. If the Landlords do not pay the full amount by August 16, 2021, they will owe simple interest at 2.00% annually on the outstanding balance.
