What happened

Landlord applied for an order to terminate the tenancy and evict Tenant due to failure to pay rent. The Tenant was living with four young grandchildren and had stopped paying rent since February 2018 due to financial difficulties.

The ruling

The tenancy is terminated effective June 30, 2018. The Tenant must pay the Landlord $7,144.72 in rent arrears and compensation, plus $59.18 per day starting June 13, 2018 until the Tenant vacates. If the Tenant pays $8,390 on or before June 30, 2018, the eviction order will be void and the Tenant can remain in the unit.
