What happened

Landlords applied for an order to terminate the tenancy and evict Tenants due to substantial interference with the reasonable enjoyment or lawful right, privilege or interest of the Landlord or another tenant. Landlords also claimed compensation for each day the Tenant remained in the unit after the termination date and for unpaid utility costs.

The ruling

The tenancy was terminated effective June 30, 2022, the date the Tenants vacated the rental unit. The Tenants are ordered to pay the Landlords $4,829.82 for unpaid utility costs and $186.00 for the cost of filing the application, for a total of $5,015.82. If the Tenants do not pay the full amount by September 23, 2022, they will start to owe interest at 3.00% annually on the outstanding balance.
