What happened

Landlords applied for an order to terminate the tenancy and evict Tenants due to failure to pay rent and outstanding utilities as per a previous LTB order. The Tenants failed to meet the condition of the previous order to pay $1,900 towards rent arrears by November 4, 2022.

The ruling

The tenancy is terminated effective February 24, 2023. The Tenants must pay the Landlords $26,071.24, which includes rent arrears up to February 13, 2023, outstanding utilities, and the application filing fee. The Tenants must also pay $62.47 per day in compensation for use of the unit starting February 14, 2023 until they move out. If the Tenants do not pay the full amount by February 24, 2023, they will owe interest at 5% annually on the outstanding balance.
