What happened
Landlord applied for an order to terminate the tenancy and evict Tenant due to non-payment of rent. The Tenant failed to pay rent from May 1, 2021 to January 31, 2022. The Landlord served a Notice of Termination effective July 26, 2021. The Tenant was not present at the hearing.
The ruling
The tenancy is terminated effective April 30, 2022. The Tenant must pay $2,987.56 to the Landlord for rent arrears and compensation up to February 11, 2022, less the rent deposit and interest. Additional compensation of $34.81 per day is owed from February 12, 2022 until the Tenant moves out. The Tenant must also pay $186.00 for the application filing cost. The Tenant has the option to void the eviction order by making full payment by specified deadlines.
