What happened

Landlord applied for an order to terminate the tenancy and evict Tenant due to non-payment of rent. The Tenant did not attend the hearing. The Landlord served a Notice of Termination effective August 25, 2021, due to rent arrears from June 1, 2021, to January 31, 2022.

The ruling

The tenancy is terminated effective February 28, 2022, unless the Tenant voids the order by paying $5,218.83 on or before that date. The Tenant must pay $4,931.16 for rent arrears and compensation, plus $186.00 for application filing costs. Daily compensation of $32.96 is due for each day of occupation starting February 12, 2022. If the unit is not vacated by February 28, 2022, the Landlord may file for eviction enforcement starting March 1, 2022.
