What happened
Landlord applied for an order to terminate the tenancy and evict Tenants due to persistent late payment of rent. The Landlord also claimed compensation for each day the Tenants remained in the unit after the termination date.
The ruling
The Tenants will be given the opportunity to continue the tenancy, subject to the condition that they pay the monthly rent on or before the 1st day of each month for a period of 12 consecutive months (October 2021 to September 2022). If the Tenants fail to make the payments on time, the Landlord may apply for an order terminating the tenancy and evicting the Tenants. The Tenants must also pay the Landlord $186.00 for the cost of filing the application. If the Tenants do not pay the full amount owed by September 14, 2021, they will start to owe interest at 2.00% annually on the outstanding balance.
