What happened
Landlord applied for an order to terminate the tenancy and evict Tenant due to failure to pay rent. The Tenant has not paid the total rent the Tenant was required to pay for the period from October 1, 2020 to June 30, 2021. The Landlord also claimed NSF cheque charges and related administration charges.
The ruling
The tenancy is terminated effective February 9, 2021, the date the Tenant vacated the rental unit. The Tenant is ordered to pay the Landlord $7,624.22, which includes rent arrears, NSF cheque charges, and the application filing fee. If the Tenant does not pay the full amount by August 8, 2021, the Tenant will owe interest at 2% annually on the outstanding balance.
