What happened

Landlord applied for an order to terminate the tenancy and evict Tenants due to the Tenant committing an illegal act of vandalism, causing undue damage to the premises, substantially interfering with the Landlord's lawful rights, and impairment of safety.

The ruling

The tenancy is terminated effective August 21, 2020. The Tenants must pay the Landlord $20,300.45 for the cost of repairing the damage, $56.12 per day for compensation for use of the unit from August 22, 2020 until they move out, and $175 for the cost of filing the application. If the full amount is not paid by December 31, 2020, interest will start accruing at 3% annually on the outstanding balance.
